Ukrainian Village
The Ukrainian influence isn't as strongly felt as it once was, but remnants of old country architecture and a smattering of Eastern European delis and markets stand as reminders of the Village's bygone days. A working class neighborhood until fairly recently, Ukrainian Village has now absorbed some of Wicker Park's hipster overflow, resulting in an appealing mix of trendy boutiques and clubs alongside greasy diners and dingy corner bars.
The neighborhood is well-maintained, full of modern flats and new construction condos. The thoroughfares of Division Street and Chicago Avenue are full of coffee shops, record stores and affordable eateries, and a number of public gardens brighten the environs in the summer months.
